The FungoMan Idea [Video]

Posted by Camille D.C. Sutton on Jan 7, 2016 12:50:43 PM

A new year begins, and like many of us, we're thinking about new vision, bigger goals, and fresh ideas for 2016. As we think about the things we're looking forward to most, we can't help but look back and mark how far we've come since the inception of an automated baseball (and now softball) practice machine.

We talk often about the art of practice and how to make it better. In one of our recent conversations about baseball practice, we thought we might share some of our thoughts on why FungoMan exists, what first inspired the idea, and what we all think practice should be about.

Click here to watch Romy give some of his thoughts on coaching, baseball, and the art of practice.

Did you know that Indoor Baseball is an official game all its own? Did you know that the same day America consumes 46 million turkeys is also the birthday of Indoor Baseball? That's right, indoor baseball, first conceived by George Hancock, became a game with an official rulebook and everything back on Thanksgiving 1887.

Today young players and baseball's best still seek to play no matter the storm. In fact, 6 out of 30 Major League Stadiums have retractable or fixed roofs, making for much happier players and fans in the colder and more tropical states. The likes include:

  • Rogers Centre, Toronta Blue Jays
  • Chase Field, Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Safeco Field, Seattle Mariners
  • Miller Park, Milwaukee Brewers
  • Minute Maid Park, Houston Astros
  • Marlins Park, Maimi Marlins
  • Tropicana Field, Tampa Bay Rays

For those who want to play better no matter the weather, the rest of baseball turns to indoor training facilities, where young players fire up their game in the warmth of air-controlled facilities, with excellent turf, and other training tools.

So, on the Eve of the day our American culture ackowledges those to whom we are most thankful, FungoMan would like to give these awesome customers a hattip for making baseball practice engaging and possible for their players, and for allowing us to help do exactly that. To find out just how many FungoMan's help assist indoor baseball facilities, read on.

Posted by Camille D.C. Sutton on Oct 28, 2015 6:30:00 PM

Greetings young padawans. You've been selected from a large population of baseball elite to be henceforth subject to the training of Jedi-masters, learning the ways of the force...er, technological advances of the baseball dynasty for the greater good of the baseball empire.

Yes, some of us are getting pretty pumped about the release of the next Star Wars chapter, but we're also thrilled to propose a rather futuristic approach to training your baseball apprentices in the world of the baseball academy.

Baseball academies are becoming increasingly profitable for both academy owners and players alike in their pursuit of making the high school starting lineup, winning college athletic scholarships, and increasing their chances of getting drafted into pro-ball -- and the choice to train young athletes with specialized baseball professionals has become the optimal way to go.
