--- title: [VIDEO] The Diving Drill We've All Been Waiting For description: With difficult plays, great coaches know how to break down the steps until each phase of the play is well-oiled and ready for the game situation. A diving catch has many components working to make the play. Today we're breaking down a few of those components. image: https://info.fungoman.com/hubfs/Screenshot%20(7)-121077-edited.png --- [Customer Care](https://info.fungoman.com/customer-care)[ About](https://info.fungoman.com/about) [![LOGO-FungoMan-PSR](https://info.fungoman.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Corporate%20Identity/logos/LOGO-FungoMan-PSR.png?width=200&height=123&name=LOGO-FungoMan-PSR.png "LOGO-FungoMan-PSR")](http://fungoman.com/) - [Baseball](https://info.fungoman.com/fm-250) - [Softball](https://info.fungoman.com/fm-250s) - [Dual Pitching](https://info.fungoman.com/fm-dpm) - [Pricing](https://info.fungoman.com/pricing) - [Contact](http://fungoman.com/contact-us/) # \[VIDEO\] The Diving Drill We've All Been Waiting For Posted by [Camille D.C. Coach David Klein (Head Coach at Menlo-Atherton HS) may have just discovered our saving grace. **WATCH HIS DIVING DRILL BELOW!** ### Dive, Get Up, Make the Throw > [@FungoMan](https://twitter.com/FungoMan?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) diving drill [pic.twitter.com/qrU0n8EeVV](https://t.co/qrU0n8EeVV) > > — David Klein (@CoachDavidKlein) [September 29, 2018](https://twitter.com/CoachDavidKlein/status/1045847532893437952?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)   With difficult plays, great coaches know how to break down the steps until each phase of the play is well-oiled and ready for the game situation. A diving catch has many components working to make the play. ### Diving Play Variables - Reading the ball - Footwork - Hand-eye coordination to determine necessary distance to dive and reach the ball - Catching the ball - Getting up quickly - Making the accurate throw In Coach Klein's drill, he focuses on the hand-eye coordination needed to determine the diving distance, reach to catch, and getting up (or at least partially). We're big fans of this drill because it allows the players the opportunity to work on these few components of a diving catch. --- *Be sure to [follow Coach David Klein on Twitter](https://twitter.com/CoachDavidKlein) for more good drill videos. What do you think about this diving drill? What BIG plays could you break down so that players can identify and master all the components of the play more purposefully? * *[![Sean-Travers-FungoMan](https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/1600864/7a388a75-2c58-4edc-ba09-04dbcf840a9d.png)](https://cta-redirect.hubspot.com/cta/redirect/1600864/7a388a75-2c58-4edc-ba09-04dbcf840a9d)* Topics: [Training Drills](https://info.fungoman.com/journal/topic/training-drills), [Defensive Drills](https://info.fungoman.com/journal/topic/defensive-drills), [Individual Baseball Drills](https://info.fungoman.com/journal/topic/individual-baseball-drills), [High School Baseball Drills](https://info.fungoman.com/journal/topic/high-school-baseball-drills), [College Baseball Practice Drills](https://info.fungoman.com/journal/topic/college-baseball-practice-drills), [Middle Infield Drills](https://info.fungoman.com/journal/topic/middle-infield-drills) #### Written by [Camille D.C.
