[VIDEOS] Good People In Baseball Doing Good: The WakWay Foundation

Most of us would agree that we need to waste less food, but don't know how to fix the problem. 11 million children in the U.S. suffer from food insecurity, and the WakWay Foundation led by Don Wakamatsu, Rangers Bench Coach addresses this need head on.

FungoMan joins sports leagues and athletes, coming behind Wakamatsu's repurposing, nutritious focused solution.

Food Resourcing and Redistribution

The WakWay Foundation redistributes fresh fruits and vegetables into food-desert areas. Through innovative practices the foundation "[looks] at farming practices, and options to create second-level products that can extend the life of a fruit or vegetable, and getting them into the hands of those in need."

Check out how the baseball community gives back to the greater local community:

"Led by Don Wakamatsu, The WakWay Foundation began as way for sports leagues, athletes, and celebrities to change the lives of inner-city children, their families, and the elderly." (The WakWay Foundation)

Meeting the Need With Innovation

When our FungoMan team heard about Don Wakamatsu's solution-based food resourcing, we jumped on board to support. Romy Cucjen, FungoMan President and fellow ASU Baseball Alum with Wakamatsu shares why he's supporting the work of The WakWay Foundation:

"When someone takes the time to do something like this to help people, it's easy to sync up and join such a worthy cause. We are so proud to be a part any way we can."

Will you consider joining us in their good work?

Meeting the Need With Generosity

Both an abundance of volunteers and donated food spoke to the generosity of South Dallas. Michelle Truman and Don Wakamatsu (pictured above) were so excited to see the community served with such enthusiasm. The FungoMan team proudly supports The WakWay Foundation as they generate hunger solutions with generosity and innovation.

If you'd like to learn more about The WakWay Foundation, you and your team may want to consider supporting this effort to address the hunger need in the U.S. For more information about how to support, go to www.wakway.org.

Let's just say that I can hang with the best of them in a game of serious wiffle ball. An expert observer, baseball admirer, and baseball coach's daughter, I'm just here to share the latest and greatest in baseball development, baseball training, and maybe some of my peanuts at the ballpark.
